Go On, Eat My Brain – Day 20 Progress Report

Two acts, ten days, and forty six pages left. That means I’m on page 56, by the way. Made my way into act 4, and my survivors who started at 11 have been killed off to 6.

And now, the aforementioned Bruce Campbell off-screen death scene from “Go On, Eat My Brain”, copyright 2008 Brad Renaud (you can also read it on my Script Frenzy Profile, here). (more…)

Go On, Eat My Brain – Day 19 Progress Report

So I forgot to post a progress report yesterday. 47 pages yesterday, 52 (so far) today. That leaves me… about 11 pages behind now. However, I just have to write four and a third pages every day for the rest of the month to finish right on track. Or I can write more, which would be beneficial.

Anyway, finally just about finished act 3. It’s right on the precipice. And I also finally used the line from Red Dwarf that made me to name one of the characters Pete.

Also, a couple more songs added to the soundtrack. I’m pretty sure I left off with 1.21 Gigawatts, but I’ll just list them all just in case.

  1. The Cranberries – Zombie
  2. Odds – Eat My Brain
  3. Korn – A.D.I.D.A.S.
  4. Matthew Good – Saturday The 12th
  5. Alexisonfire – This Could Be Anywhere In The World
  6. BonTempo – Bespin, The Betrayal
  7. Jet Set Satellite – Best Way To Die
  8. Nine Inch Nails – The Warning
  9. From Autumn To Ashes – Autumns Monologue
  10. 1.21 Gigawatts – Canterbury Tales
  11. Armor For Sleep – Stay On The Ground
  12. Nine Inch Nails – The Warning [feat. Doudou N'diaye Rose]

Yes, I know I already had The Warning, but the beat and creepy piano at the beginning of the remix inspired me, so now I have a three minute montage resting in my head which is going to open act 4. Fun fun. Also, the band on last.fm 1.21 Gigawatts is not the band 1.21 Gigawatts that plays the song Canterbury Tales (among the others I have on my computer). Check out the vocalist’s site for music from his three bands (the man’s busy, no?).

Finally, thank you to Trent Reznor for breaking through my writer’s block by having released the (so far) last song on my soundtrack.

47 pages now. Still behind, but catching up. Only ten pages behind. Ticking clock has been introduced. And… that’s all.

43 pages, and way behind. I don’t know why, but I just slammed into a freaking wall. I know how to finish this act, I know how to start the next, and how to make my way through it to the end of that one. But I can’t manage to get any more than two pages at a time now, if that. Hell, I wrote nothing between Friday and Monday. Hopefully, I’ll work through it, though. I did last year, all on the last day, I just wish it would come early.

Also, soundtrack has grown by one. Song 10 is now 1.21 Gigawatts – Canterbury Tales.

Forty pages, and a new title for the progress reports. I knew I’d come up with something.

Two more songs added to the soundtrack, by the way:

  1. The Cranberries – Zombie
  2. Odds – Eat My Brain
  3. Korn – A.D.I.D.A.S.
  4. Matthew Good – Saturday The 12th
  5. Alexisonfire – This Could Be Anywhere In The World
  6. BonTempo – Bespin, The Betrayal
  7. Jet Set Satellite – Best Way To Die
  8. Nine Inch Nails – The Warning
  9. From Autumn To Ashes – Autumns Monologue

Aside from that, I’m actually really surprised by something on the last.fm NIN page. One of their newest songs, 1 Ghosts I, already has more listens than most of their other songs. Third place, despite the fact that the album was only released on Tuesday. Granted, if you preordered it on NIN.com, you were given a free digital version of both discs for download to listen to until you received the hard copy. But still, that’s pretty fucking fast for a song to get just under 5,000 listens when the number one song has just over 6,000.

Thirty six pages. And Bruce Campbell’s death scene is now done.

And, unfortunately, that’s all I have to say today. So… umm… yeah. I’m out. Til tomorrow.

32 pages. And luckily, it’s still coming out. No petering yet. Which is a good thing, in case you didn’t know.

In other news, I saw something on another wordpress blog about the future of the internet. Something called The Grid. If it actually happens, and it’s not too expensive to convert from the internet to the grid, it sounds pretty nifty. Like the guy said, the entire back catalog of the Rolling Stones could be downloaded from Britain to Japan in less than two seconds. Nifty to say the least.

As for movies, no review for today. Just this. Uwe Boll will quit making movies if we can get enough signatures on the petition linked to at that story. If you don’t know who Uwe Boll is, you’re fucking lucky. He’s horrendously massacred many a video game by brining it to the silver screen. I’ve only watched three of his movies: Alone in the Dark because I love Christian Slater, and someone does a good job of making shitty movies look great in previews; House of the Dead because I was told you get to see Erica Durance topless (although, if you’ve ever seen Erica Durance, you’d know that she is a perfectly good reason to watch a horrible movie); and BloodRayne because the beautiful and talented Kristanna Lokken and Michelle Rodriguez, not to mention Michael Madsen and Billy Zane (unfortunately, that doesn’t save the movie from being complete shit).

There’s already 123,000 signatures on the petition, and slashfilm.com is trying to get to about 1,000,000. Please, do your part to help and sign the petition. And if you don’t believe me (or slashfilm.com) that his movies are crap and ruining the potential of video games that could have great game-to-film adaptations, just rent those three movies I talked about in the last paragraph.

In the mean time… toodles.

28 pages now. And now Bruce Campbell is in the story. I’m definitely going to have to rewrite that scene, however. It was much better the first time I thought up the scene. When I wrote it just now, I fucking butchered it.

Anyway, the soundtrack is now one song longer. Track seven is Jet Set Satellite – Best Way To Die.

Also, as I just watched the Stargate Atlantis episode “Grace Under Pressure”, I have to reiterate something that I probably haven’t said on this particular blog (though, I have elsewhere). David Hewlett is fucking brilliant, and seriously my favourite actor. Not only can he carry the majority of an episode all on his own, but he can do the same with movies. If you’re ever looking for a great movie and don’t mind watching an independent film, pick up either Cube (the only good one of the trilogy) or Treed Murray (aka Get Down, for any American readers I may have). Probably the best two films I’ve seen him in that he’s been a major character. Hell, probably the two best movies I’ve seen him in period (though, he’s got quite a few I haven’t seen).

Twenty three pages, and the first major zombie scene. A little emotion, and BLAMMO! A great kill, too. Zombiefication happened a little quicker than I’d planned on, but it actually makes it easier. I’m also very near a scene I’m quite excited to write. A couple scenes, actually, involving a celebrity and his connection with zombies. Yes yes.

As for movies:

Alvin and the Chipmunks

I was seriously surprised at how great this movie was. Though, maybe I shouldn’t have been. Justin Long fan? Check. Jason Lee fan? I suppose a hetero man-crush means check. Loved the Chipmunks back in the day when I was a kid? Check. Yeah, it was great. Awesome songs, too. I want the soundtrack, as bad as that sounds.

Anyway, back to Rock Band.

Sixteen pages now. And finally, the first zombies are making their appearance. I’m still quite excited about this. And doing much better than I did this time last year.

Also, movie.

Gabriel

Fucking amazing movie. I knew it sounded like it’d be good, but I thought it was going to end up being crap. And then I watched it, and wow. Basically, it’s about an Archangel sent to Earth in a human body (as they all are) to fight for the souls trapped in Purgatory. Whomever wins – the Archangels (good) or the Fallen Angels (evil) – gets to go home (either heaven or hell). And what a fight it was. Can anyone say, “Battle to the death in a whorehouse”?
